Fort Point Now Open 3 Days a Week

The fort is now open Friday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Monday through Thursday.

Welcome to Fort Point National Historic Site!

From its vantage point overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate, Fort Point protected San Francisco harbor from Confederate & foreign attack during & after the U.S. Civil War. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of the master brick mason from the Civil War period.

 
Volunteers assist park staff in numerous activities, from visitor information to habitat restoration.

Volunteers-In-Parks

Volunteers-In-Parks show their support by donating valuable time that allows park staff to run a number of programs that would be impractical or impossible without volunteer assistance. Civil War Re-enactor at Fort Point

Civil War Re-enactors at Fort Point

Join the American Civil War Association as they bring Fort Point to life with period uniforms, military music, talks and demonstrations. Saturday January 30 and Sunday January 31, 10 am to 5 pm. Activities include cannon and rifle demonstrations and talks on soldier life.
